The Foundation was established in 2006 through the generosity of Mastercard when it became a public company. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Education Initiatives

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate will report to the Director Human Capital Development, the Head of Education Initiatives will support Scholars Program, Country Offices and regional programs and partners to advance towards the full realization of Young Africa Works Strategy (YAW).
  • He/she will also manage the development of the Education programs, partnerships, strategic Plans and annual workplans of Education Unit and ensure their alignment with critical aspects of Human Capital Development including budgeting and lead the integration of higher education initiatives with broader Scholars program and alignment with YAW strategy.

Specific Roles

  • Identifies opportunities to create impact through education and developing interventions to provide access for Scholars program participants.
  • Identifies collaboration opportunities within existing partner network and potential new partnerships.
  • Leads the integration of higher education initiatives with broader Scholars program and alignment with YAW strategy.
  • Provides support to partners and Scholars colleagues with implementation of higher education initiatives, including existing initiatives (i.e., Ruforum, FAWE Uganda), ensuring safeguarding high quality of experience for scholars.
  • Manages relationships with senior stakeholders at educational institutions and the broader Scholars community.
  • Coaches and mentors the staff of Education Unit.
  • Manages workload of staff in Education.
  • Drives and inspires technical excellence within the team.
  • Leads her/his team to deliver results consistent.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in relevant field including Education, Economic Development or related Social sciences field is required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience in a similar or related role in a fast-paced environment with local and multinational experience.
  • Candidates should have a relevant experience in secondary and tertiary education in various countries of Africa and beyond.
  • Excellent operational skills covering education policy and education planning, and ability to lead complex policy and strategy dialogue.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with established track record managing multi-location and virtual teams.
  • Ability to influence dialogue and policy and its use in other sectors without direct control or authority.
  • Excellent prioritization and managerial skills.
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience and track record of results and successfully working across educational practices, disciplinary and institutional boundaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good partnership experience, including involving multiple stakeholders – both public and private.

Job Title: Enterprise Knowledge Management Partner

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate will report to the Enterprise Knowledge Management (KM) Lead, the Enterprise Knowledge Management Partner will contribute to a unified knowledge strategy at the Foundation and support the Lead by documenting knowledge use cases and related user journeys and interaction maps.
  • She/he will support in measuring and reporting on performance of the knowledge lifecycle. In this role, the Partner will also support in creating user-friendly, highly transferable, and easy to consume standardized knowledge assets.
  • The successful candidate will be based in our Africa Hubs in either Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, or Senegal.

Specific Roles

  • Contribute ideas to a unified knowledge strategy at the Foundation
  • Intake and triage requests for KM services, products or support and prioritize.
  • Responding to KM Help Desk inquiries in consultation with Lead.
  • Keeping team informed by managing tracker and providing updates.
  • Implement tools which enable knowledge capture, translation, and exchange.
  • Ensure KM solution delivery partners understand and take an informed, sustainable, and right-sized approach to meeting user needs through education, documentation, and coordination.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Instructional Design, Project Management, Human Centered Design, and International Development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role related to Knowledge Management.
  • Having a Professional certification is an added advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of technology solutions, tools and platforms needed in support of Knowledge Management.
  • Proven ability to apply effective knowledge management, user experience and human-centered stakeholder engagement skills and processes.
  • Experience using content management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and learning management systems (e.g., Dayforce LMS) for knowledge management.
  • Supporting users to find the resources they are looking for either through self-service or instruction.
  • Developing tools to enable knowledge capture, translation, and exchange.
  • Knowledge of human centered design techniques and skills in their application.
  • Knowledge asset template design and maintenance using modern technology (e.g., PDF forms) and advanced techniques (e.g., branching logic).
  • Understanding of social impact organizations, enterprise practices and grant-making activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 environment and apps especially SharePoint, Yammer, and Term Store.
  • Modern SharePoint site building and content management with metadata.
  • Translating technical procedures into user friendly instructional resources and job aids.
